A New Year Means New Goals
I hope you all had a great holiday full of time with family and friends! Me and my family had a great holiday. No one in my household had to work between Christmas and New Year's so we all had a chance to relax, unwind and get ready for the new year.
I love the new year. Such a great time to reassess and set goals. Like most of you, I have set lots of New Year's resolutions that have gone no where. So, now I choose to set just a couple of goals for each month. I learned from a great book I read last year called "Atomic Habits" by James Clear, that we create new habits by making small changes over time. It's a great read and I highly recommend it for anyone who has struggled to create new habits and get rid of bad ones.
One of my goals this year is to send a handwritten note to each of my kids, grandkids, siblings and a few close friends for their birthdays. I come from a very large family, so there's no way I would be able to remember when everyone's birthday is. So, I downloaded a Birthday Calendar that I can hang in my office. Then on the last Monday of each month, I will prepare next month's letters. I think this is simple enough for me to succeed.
I also love to read, so I've set a goal to read 100 books this year. So, once again, I found a tracking sheet to log each book I've read. This will also hang in my office and should be easy enough to help me keep track of how many books I've read.
I found both of these trackers on Pinterest for free. There are trackers for everything! Just do a search for the type of tracker you want, and you'll get tons of choices. Many are free and some will lead to Etsy shops and can usually be purchased for just a couple of dollars. Of course if you have the skills and the time, you can create your own tracker.
Another general goal I have this year is to simplify my life. One thing I'm going to do to simplify, is to post a blog every other Wednesday instead of weekly. My hope is this will give me time to do more research and come up with quality posts. Do you have a topic you'd like to see covered in my blog? Send me an email.
I hope you're all off to a great start for your new year!
