Hand writing is important!
The letter above is one my mom wrote to me when I was away at college. She passed away in 2020. She had dementia and wasn't able to talk for quite a while. Then she stopped recognizing us. That was rough! Now anytime I see her handwriting, it makes me stop and think of her. No one had handwriting like my mom's! I always thought it was so beautiful and was frustrated that my handwriting wasn't as cool as hers. Now it makes me smile!
This is the letter my grandpa wrote to me the day after I was born. He also wrote me a letter on my first and second birthdays. Even though it is typed, it is on his letterhead and it does have his signature. These letters are priceless to me because my parents divorced when I was a year old so I didn't know my grandpa until I was 16 years old. And I didn't know about the letters until I was an adult! I'm so grateful that he took the time to write these.
My point is, today's technology is great, but we need to make sure we actually hand write things for our grandkids. I'm not saying we have to write long letters on the day they are born, but we should make the effort to give them things that have our handwriting in it. Someday they will be so glad they have it.
